The St. Croix River Region
The St. Croix River Region is famous for many things. Its most notable is the great fishing and hunting. For over 100 years, outdoor enthusiasts have dubbed it all, a Sportsman’s Paradise.
Water activities in the area include: swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding.
Grand Lake Stream
From our docks, one can fish more than 75 miles of shoreline, in one of the northeast’s premiere smallmouth bass and landlocked salmon fisheries. Canoe or Kayak Fishing is excellent. Some experts have even gone so far as to say, “these are the best smallmouth bass waters anywhere”. It is for this reason that so many fishermen return here year after year. If stream or brook fishing is more to your likeing, there are numerous places within a short drive that offer fantastic trout, salmon and bass fishing. One of these waterways is Grand Lake Stream, a world renowned spawning ground for landlocked salmon. Grand Lake Stream is only 12 miles from The Flying Eagle and offers anglers an excellent opportunity for fly fishing.
The Beginning of Hunting Season
In late summer, the leaves begine to change hue signaling the beginning of the hunting season. Our local guides can take you to the woods and marshes for bear and waterfowl. But, you don’t need a guide to seek out exceptional upland game hunting in Washington County. Grouse and woodcock are plentiful, just a short hike from town. We also have whitetail deer and moose (with permit) hunting. If you care to explore the miles of logging roads which traverse the region.
